Project description
We are currently, like in the past, using the principle that the higher the soil potential, the wider the spacing should be. World-wide, the question is raised whether plantings, particularly in-row vine spacing, should or could not be closer under vigorous (high potential soil) conditions. Uncertainty exists as to the effect that the restriction/elaboration of the root system may have on shoot growth, level of yield, and grape quality under high potential soil conditions.

The aim of the project is to determine the effects of vine spacing in the row (with fixed, practical row spacing) on economic viability, minimum and maximum yield, as well as grape and wine quality on high potential soils
