Project description
The ultimate aim of the project is to get learners interested in agricultural research, more specifically in enology and viticulture, as a career. Learners from resource poor areas do not have the opportunities to come into contact with research and science projects in their day to day living. Grade 9 to grade12 learners often do not even have an introduction to the Wine Industry and Science. Thus the career choices they make are not based on good information. Winetech and ARC Infruitec ?Nietvoorbij could best introduce schools of resource poor communities and other schools to the wine industry and to agricultural research if the children can visit the institute and learn first hand by seeing the laboratories and infrastructure while being informed about the ongoing research and its implications at Infruitec-Nietvoorbij
